The seminar will be presented by Virginius "Jinks" Dabney, a long time member of the Utah State Bar, who has started three successful law practices in three different cities during his career. Along the way, he has learned a lot about starting a law practice, making a living practicing law and getting better at what you do by paying attention to detail and always being aware of marketing opportunities. He will share his experiences and show attendees how he did it and highlight what worked and what did not. Examples, stories and anecdotes are used to support his materials. Jinks is passionate about being a lawyer and how having a law degree gives lawyers a special responsibility to make the world a better place. The stories he tells all have messages and will help to drive home what you need to do to get started and to avoid a lot of pitfalls and mistakes that lawyers make in starting a practice. You will be educated, enlightened, entertained, and excited about getting going in the right direction when the seminar ends.

COMMENTS from 2012, 2013 USB LFM 101 Seminar Attendees:
"The seminar is a 'MUST' for any attorney who is thinking about opening his or her own office." BGH
"Jinks' tips were very helpful, and he was personable and professional and really knows his subject. I would attend any seminar he teaches." MB
"The seminar oral presentation was presented in an educational, informational and entertaining style. The written materials were similarly excellent. Jinks' expertise puts the likes of Aristotle and Socrates to shame. The value of the seminar was tremendous, and it was worth every penny of the registration fee." JWC
"Even though I have been practicing a number of years, I learned a great deal from attending the seminar which will help me for the rest of my legal career." TBM
"This was a very helpful CLE for new lawyers who are soon going to be solo practitioners and the information provided was realistic and practical. The best part of it all was he gave me hope." JH
"Jinks is very knowledgeable, very good at responding to questions and has very interesting stories that are informative and entertaining. The oral presentation, focus of the seminar toward the actual practice of law and the materials provided were worth the registration fee many times over. I think he covered everything there is to know for a new lawyer to get started on the right path." CRH
"I have practiced for 41 years and could recall those early efforts at building a practice - if Mr. Dabney had offered this seminar when I first started, I would have been able to retire ten years ago. He was fantastic." DZ
"This was a very practical and useful seminar, much more so than other seminars I have attended. I enjoyed the materials and insights a lot and hope that Jinks will teach more CLE programs. He is great." NN
"The practical information was invaluable. Jinks' enthusiasm for the practice of law coupled with his ability to tell a good story makes for an engaging presentation. The seminar was absolutely and easily the best CLE I have ever attended." BRH (a lawyer in practice for 15 years)
"Jinks is extremely engaging and personable. I was impressed with his materials, the seminar was a good experience and motivated me to listen and then put into practice what he was saying we should do to start a practice. I really enjoyed him and believe that his presentation should be part of a law school curriculum." JM
"The seminar was a steal, the price was so low for what I got in return. I wish I could say the same for other seminars I attend every two years. They make Jinks' seminar more than worth the money." MC
"The seminar was awesome, worth every penny, but more importantly, worth my time." ETG
"Jinks was the most incredible speaker ever. Please have him come back and do more seminars. I will sign up for them all. The seminar was GREAT!" SC
"Good practical advice presented with energy, enthusiasm and effectiveness. The seminar was excellent." GW
"Sign me up for everything Mr. Dabney teaches in the future. This was unquestionably the best legal seminar I have ever attended." BAG (an attorney with 20 years of practice)
